I'm done!

I finished all 759 pages at Midnight last night. I read all of it in 2 days!

I normally wouldn't have read it that fast, but Ryan was listening to the audio book and I had to keep up with him or ahead so that he wouldn't give me spoilers. He has a tendancy to want to tell stuff. No to be mean necessarily. Just because he can't NOT tell someone.

I'll say this ...it was very sad, but it ended as it should.

Burn Notice

"When spies get fired, they don't get a letter from human resources. They get BURNED..."

If you haven't seen this show you need to watch it! It is on the USA Network which also makes some other great shows such as Psych and Monk.

My favorite part about the show is it gives you "how to" hints on how spies work. Such as .... Bathrooms are good places to fight, you won't hurt your fingers punching someone when there are plenty of hard surfaces to bang their head on.

SO FABULOUS!!!

How do we do it?

A few months back my husbands contract ended. He was working for a computer company that I will not name (they make THE best computers and MP3 players, and have recently put out a new phone which you may have heard of). He started the hunt to find a new job. Everyone was awed by his experience, but were not as awed by his educational background. He was PERFECT for all the positions he interviewed for, but he didn't have the piece of paper hanging on the wall will the gold stamp on it.

For the two months he spent interviewing, I got a little panic-y. I didn't think that we could go very long on one income. But then as the 2 months finally passed, I realized.... We are doing FINE! We can do this!

We had cut back a lot. We didn't eat out as much as we had before. (Good for the pocketbook as well as the waist!)I didn't haphazardly buy things off WOOT! or Amazon anymore. We didn't splurge on weekends away. We watched our Netflix instead of going to the movies. We cut our satellite programming down. We didn't go to the mall.

We decided that we were going to go for it! Ryan was going to stop searching for a full-time job and he would focus on school. I knew how hard it was for me going to school and working full time or even part-time. I wanted him to be able to trudge through without having to worry about getting to work or asking work to try to fit around his school schedule. I especially didn't want work to get in the way of his homework. That was the toughest part about working and going to school... finding time to do the homework.

So, now months later, our bills are getting paid (even though they raised our rent AGAIN), we don't REALLY feel deprived, and we are staying afloat. We even have a bit to spare and put into savings on occasion. When both of us were working I thought we were SO POOR. Now we are living on less than half.

Sure, we don't have savings like we used to. We can't be a flexible or fancy free like we used to be. But you know what! I can still get a pedicure once in a while! So life is good.

My week off.

So, last week when I had had the WHOLE week off.... I didn't get much done. I thought I would be so bored that I would find projects to do.

Monday I was a little bored because we were expecting a new receiver for our media center. We had the tracking number and checked it in the morning. It said it was being delivered at 6:47am. Well, I waited and waited. I feared even taking the garbage down to the garbage cans because I thought I might miss them. I didn't even risk going to get the mail. I got the internet out of my system that day and didn't touch it much after that. BTW, the package FINALLY arrived sometime after 6:30 pm. Nice.....

Tuesday: I did a lot of errends and grocery shopping and such. I didn't really leave the house until noon and, therefore, errends took up most of my day.

Wednesday: 4th of July. Went to my in-law's house at about 9:30. Ate a HUGE breakfast, snacked, napped, snacked, watched movies, ate dinner, watched movies and got home about 1am. (Have you seen Bread & Tulips? If you like Italian films... this is a good one.)

Thursday: Took my sister-in-law to get our nails done at a new salon we found. Went shopping for a new outfit, but didn't find anything for the wedding I was going to attend. Then, after my husband got out of school we hunkered down and watched Scrubs for the rest of the night.

Friday: Drove the 2+ hours to get to my parents house. Watched Ratatouille (good show!) with Ryan and my mom. (Mom fell asleep) Unexpected guests had arrived at my parents house while we were out. Spent the evening making dinner and entertaining.

Saturday: Wedding Day of my high school Best Friend! It didn't start until 2:30, so I basically spent the morning doing nothing. I ironed Ryan and my clothes and wrapped the gift. The wedding was beautiful. I had never been to a wedding other than my own, so it was quite fun. She looked FABULOUS! Yeah... I cried. - Drove back the 2+ hours to get home. We stopped at Sonic. The food isn't anything to write home about, but the DRINKS! OH! the drinks.... I recommened the Strawberry Limeade. Yum!
